Intracept basivertebral nerve ablation is a procedure to treat vertebrogenic back pain. Vertebrogenic back pain is caused by degenerative disc disease (DDD). Over time, the vertebral endplates (top and bottom) of the vertebral bodies (spine bone) become inflamed and degenerate in response to the DDD. This causes back pain that can present from standing too long, sitting, bending forward to pick something up or tie your shoes, or even turning over in bed.
